Ford is constantly adding new and innovative features to its cars to help make day to day life easier and safer for you-starting with Active Park Assist 2.0.

You may have heard of this system, but what is Ford's Active Park Assist 2.0? Our Marshall Ford team explains below how this feature is able to help navigate your Ford in and out of spots along the street in Marshall, as well as within congested parking lots in Jefferson and Waskom.

What Does Ford's Active Park Assist 2.0 Do?

We have all been there before: Slowly driving around the block, looking for an open spot near the restaurant, so you won't have to walk too far. Then, you see a space between two cars right along the sidewalk.

You are wondering if there is enough room, though, for your vehicle to fit. Luckily, with Active Park Assist 2.0, you can take the guessing game out of the equation. This system can scan and help find you an open parking spot for your SUV or truck.

From there, it can then help you fit your vehicle into any parallel or perpendicular space. It does this by controlling the steering, shifting, braking, and acceleration itself. All you have to do is hold the button, sit back, and wait for your Ford to finish automatically parking itself!

Then, when you are leaving the parking space, you can use its Park Out feature to safely get back on the road again! That way, you don't have to worry about maneuvering your car yourself if there is another vehicle parked closely in front of or behind you.

How Does it Work?

If you are parallel parking downtown, all you need to do to start is push the Active Park Assist button once and use the turn signal to indicate which side you want to park on. Once the system finds an adequate spot, it will chime and display an alert on the touchscreen.

When this happens, you will want to bring your car to a stop, shift into neutral, release the brake pedal once instructed, then press and hold the Active Park Assist button. With your hands off the steering wheel, your Ford will then begin to park itself.

You can also use this feature when you want to back into a perpendicular parking space. To do so, press the Active Park Assist button, then press the Perpendicular Park In option on the touchscreen. With your turn signal on again, pull beyond the cars you are attempting to park near and follow the same steps you would for parallel parking.

What Models Have Active Park Assist 2.0?

Ford has included Active Park Assist 2.0 as an available feature in a few of its models, including some of its SUVs-such as the Ford Escape, Ford Explorer, and Ford Mustang Mach-E. It also is an available feature with the Ford F-150, which makes maneuvering your truck in and out of parking spaces much easier.
